NOW® Flax Oil from organic flax seeds delivers a natural nutrient profile found in Genuine Whole Foods and is non-GMO, cold-pressed, and unrefined. Flax oil abounds in omega-3 fatty acids, principally alpha-linolenic acid. NOW Foods oil is tested to have between 55-65% of this valuable fatty acid.
The organically grown flax seeds are processed initially by screening for weeds, stalk, etc. Then the oil is extracted by cold expeller pressing/crushing. Filtration is the next process, and after filtration, to preserve the natural nutrient profile found in flax and to prevent rancidity, a minute amount of an antioxidant blend is added to the oil. The processing method assures an oil of high quality with a characteristic nutty taste and odor, and a transparent, medium-yellow color.
